Our Team
David Ellis, Partner
David brings a wide range of experience from commercial real estate investment to private equity. Before starting Blue Dock, David helped launch Preferred Investments as a Principal in 2016 and spent nine years establishing a proven record of project execution. At Preferred, David was responsible for leading his projects through every step of their lifecycle - from sourcing, underwriting, leasing, and development, to sales.
Prior to joining Preferred, David sourced, underwrote, and managed acquisitions at Actua, a public growth equity firm focused on majority stake growth investments. David started his career as an investment banking analyst at William Blair & Company in San Francisco, where he focused on sell-side M&A execution.
David holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and an MBA with a concentration in Financial Analysis from Indiana University.
When he’s not in the office, David can usually be found with his wife and three young sons, preferably all together on a golf course. Gotta teach ‘em young.
Cam Schilling, Partner
Cam brings experience across both commercial and residential real estate investment, with a strong focus on creating value through strategic execution. Prior to starting Blue Dock, Cam worked in acquisitions at Prime Rock, a private equity and family office firm, where he gained hands-on experience sourcing and evaluating real estate opportunities.
Before transitioning into real estate full-time, Cam spent 12 years playing professional hockey across the NHL, AHL, and Europe. His career took him all over North America, and he wrapped up his playing days in Stockholm, Sweden and Salzburg, Austria.
Cam holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Entrepreneurship from Miami University (Ohio), and he later earned a Master of Science in International Real Estate from Florida International University.
Today, Cam lives in Birmingham, Michigan, just outside of Detroit, with his wife, Jaclyn, and their two boys, Asher and Callen. When he's not working, he enjoys spending time with his family, golfing, and traveling.
